Better Beginnings Specialist - P00028

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate early childhood programs and provide technical assistance, coaching, and training on changes required to meet state standards and improve the level of quality
  • Work with early childhood programs to coordinate staff training and implementation of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Work with early childhood programs to develop program improvement plans
  • Participate in the development and implementation of short- and long-term goals related to Childhood Services projects
  • Follow project procedures and compile information for reports and evaluations
  • Participate in evaluation and review of Childhood Services projects
  • Establish an in-home office area to maintain files and documentation needed to complete the duties of the job
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of and experience with program evaluation tools and state quality standards, best practices in early childhood education, including program management and leadership, budgeting and/or grant management, Arkansas Minimum Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers, and Arkansas Better Beginnings quality rating improvement system

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment

The ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long term goals

Skills in organizing, prioritizing, and implementing projects, Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Power Point. Familiarity with Internet-based applications is also necessary, and verbal and written communication

Travel required throughout the state and limited overnight stay

 

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Job Requirements

Formal education equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Child Development, Business, or related field

Three (3) years or more of experience working in an early childhood program

 

Desired Qualifications:
Experience as administrator in a licensed child care program
Knowledge of the Arkansas Better Chance program
Training and experience in mentoring/coaching
Knowledge of and experience with a variety of program types
Experience supporting the professional development of early childhood staff and/or students
Experience using the Program Administration Scale and/or the Business Administration Scale
